Terms of Use & Disclaimer

Last updated: 2026-06-21

Article 1 (Application)

These Terms apply to all relationships concerning use of the Service (Scanat). By using the Service, you are deemed to have agreed to these Terms.

Article 2 (Service content)

Based on photos of products (foods, supplements, cosmetics, household goods, etc.) you take or select, the Service uses AI to read information such as ingredient labels and returns a score that serves as a guide to clarity and ease of choosing, along with points worth checking and good points. It also estimates nutrition from meals you photograph or enter by hand, and based on your recent eating trends and (if provided) your profile, suggests a direction and concrete dish examples for "how to eat tomorrow (today)". What is shown is reference information estimated by AI from images and input, and its accuracy or completeness is not guaranteed. Nutrition figures and eating tips are general reference information, not medical or nutritional guidance or advice on treatment or prevention.

Article 3 (Nature of the AI evaluation; medical disclaimer)

The scores, comments, and "better ways to choose" shown by the Service are reference information for choosing products. They are not advice on medicine, diagnosis, treatment, or prevention, and do not guarantee or assert any health effect or safety. The score is designed as a guide to the clarity of label information and ease of choosing, not as a guarantee of any health effect. Always check the actual ingredients, amounts, allergy information, and usage precautions on the product itself or the manufacturer's labeling. For matters such as your physical condition, chronic illness, allergies, or interactions with medicines, please consult a doctor, pharmacist, or specialist.

Article 4 (Data handling; health-related information)

Captured or selected images and (if consented) the health-related information entered in your profile are sent, in order to perform the AI evaluation, via the operator's server to the AI processing service (Google Gemini, in the USA). These are used only for evaluation and are not stored long-term on the operator's server. Evaluations, images, and profile are stored only on the user's device. Collection, third-party provision, and cross-border transfer of health-related information are carried out based on the user's consent. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Article 5 (Prohibited acts)

Article 6 (Intellectual property)

Rights to the Service's UI, code, and design belong to the operator. Evaluation results may be used within a personal scope as a reference for the user's own product choices.

Article 7 (Disclaimer)

The Service provides AI-estimated results and does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose of the evaluation content. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator bears no liability for decisions or actions the user takes based on the Service's information, or for loss of on-device data. The Service is not a substitute for professional health or medical advice, or for confirming product safety.

Article 8 (Changes to the Terms)

These Terms may be changed as necessary. The revised Terms take effect when posted on the Service or a designated page.

Article 9 (Governing law and jurisdiction)

These Terms are interpreted under Japanese law. Any dispute arising in connection with the Service shall be subject to the exclusive agreed jurisdiction of the court having jurisdiction over the operator's location.
